Academia Europaea is a European, non-governmental association acting as an Academy.
The Bergen Knowledge Hub was established in 2014, and acts as the Academia Europaea branch in the Nordic, Baltic and Arctic Regions.
The aim of the Hub is to provide a platform for scholarship, science advice, engagement between research and society in these regions. The Hub has a particular emphasis on the Northern Seas (including the Arctic) and their resources and environmental and climatic impacts, energy, sustainable development, marine and maritime issues, the Nordic societies and their societal model. The Hub organizes projects, meetings and workshops, and special events on the science-policy Interface.
The object of Academia Europaea is the advancement and propagation of excellence in scholarship in the humanities, law, the economic, social, and political sciences, mathematics, medicine, and all branches of natural and technological sciences anywhere in the world for the public benefit and for the advancement of the education of the public of all ages in the aforesaid subjects in Europe.
