The Energy and Sustainable Development Group

The Energy and Sustainable Development Group of Academia Europaea – Bergen is working  together with Academia Europaea’s Bergen Knowledge Hub.

The group represents and provides a forum for European scientists interested in any aspect of physics and chemistry research and development related to the science of energy and technologies for the supply, distribution, transformation, storage and use of energy in society. In its activities, the group pays particular attention to aspects of effectivity, sustainability and environmental acceptability in a European and global erspective.

Where adequate, the group organises meetings, undertakes through ad-hoc groups analyses of (physics and or chemistry based) energy issues and formulates recommendations . Among other objectives are the support of education and training and the promotion of public understanding of energy issues.

Expertise and advice is offered upon  request, to the AE Bergen Knowledge Hub, to the AE Council and Board, as well as to other related bodies. It also cooperates with other European groups with similar objectives, primarily with the Energy Group of the EPS (European Physical Society) and with energy related groups of other learned societies.

The Group is coordinated by professor Laszlo Csernai.
